Public diplomacy, a relatively new and rapidly evolving discipline, is regarded as the framework of activities by which a government seeks to influence public attitudes in a manner that they become supportive of its foreign policy and national interests. It differs from traditional diplomacy in that public diplomacy goes beyond governments and interfaces primarily with non-governmental individuals and organizations.

Successful public diplomacy involves an active engagement with the public in a manner that builds, over a period of time, a relationship of trust and credibility. Recently, the Public Diplomacy Division has made development of Web strategies to engage with diverse communities in India and overseas a key focus and is utilizing a broad range of social media platforms and services enabling the government to ‘listen’ and understand the pulse of the nation.

The digital diplomacy was started on Twitter, and was soon followed by a Facebook page and aYouTube channel. While Twitter and Facebook are used to disseminate foreign policy news and engage with the overseas communities, the YouTube channel showcases documentaries and features on India’s ethos and culture. These initiatives have also served as a catalyst for many Indian missions and embassies to indulge in social media and form local communities. India Perspectives is the flagship publication of the Ministry of External Affairs and is printed in 17 languages in over 150 countries. The magazine, and other newsletters, are now made available online via Scribd and Issuu.

The digital diplomacy has been done under the aegis of Navdeep Suri, Joint Secretary & Head of the Public Diplomacy Division. An Indian Foreign Service officer since 1983, Navdeep Suri has served in a host of different capacities in India’s diplomatic missions in Egypt, Syria, US, Tanzania, UK, and South Africa. The strategy and execution of social initiatives is taken care by Abhay Kumar, Under Secretary and a young Indian Foreign Service Officer. He has in the past served at the Embassy of India, Moscow and at the Consulate General of India in St. Petersburg.

I met the two at a SMC Delhi meetup hosted by NASSCOM last week, where they discussed their vision and challenges with the panel that included me. The panel presented them suggestions about further engagement strategy. They’ve had a good start with over 10,000 likes on Facebook and over 14,500 followers on Twitter already. Mr. Suri also shared some huge wins that were enabled by the social media engagement during the Libyan crisis as they worked to evacuate Indian nationals in that country. While most people, including me, do not associate the Government of India with technology adoption or initiatives in this space, the Public Diplomacy Division had me pleasantly surprised.

If you are using a BroadBand connection at your home and using Windows Xp as your Operating System, and you feel that your BB speed is a bit less, then in that case you have the option to increase your Broadband speed upto 20%.


1. First of all make sure you are logged in as Administrator.
2. Go to Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc, press OK.
3. Then go to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> QOS packet Scheduler.
4. On the right it will give you the option of Limit Reservable bandwidth, open and and select Enabled, and change the value to 0.

8.) on setting tab check the "enabled"

The average reader is able to read approximately 2 words per second, or 120 words per minute. But with practice, readers have been able to increase their reading speed to upwards of 1,000 words per minute. The following is a list of 10 ways reading speed can be increased, while not missing any important information.


Skim the whole text first
Take a few minutes to get to know the lay-out of the reading material. If you are reading a book, read through the Table of Contents to learn what the main ideas of the material will be. Think about what you already know about the information you will be reading, so as to make connections with the text as you read. Speed-reading should not reduce your comprehension of the text.


Read the last sentence of the first paragraph
Typically, this sentence is called the “thesis sentence,” which is a one sentence summary of the main point of the paper, or chapter, if reading a book.


Read first sentence of each paragraph
This sentence is called the “topic sentence” and the following sentences in the paragraph will contain supporting material or examples. Reading this sentence will determine if you need to read the rest of the paragraph or if you can skim the content, or skip ahead.


Read the first and last sentences of the last paragraph
Typically, the last paragraph will summarize the whole chapter. It is the “conclusion.” Read the last paragraph to determine if you have noted all the information, or if you need to review content for an important point you may have missed.


Do not speak each word as you read
Eyes can move faster than the mouth, in speed reading the less movement, the better.


Read everything written in Bold Print, ALL CAPS, italics, or underlined
If the author of the article thinks the information is important enough to use some unusual format to make it stand out from the rest of the printed page, then the information is important. Read it. If the information jumps off the page, it will be quick and easy to read.


Read all numbered or bulleted lists
Lists are another technique writers use to convey a lot of information in an easily accessible way. Lists are quick and easy to read since they do not have to follow grammatical rules of sentence structure.


Read all the sidebar information
Here again, is information that is supportive or repetitive of the text. It is also noticeable and easily accessible, and can oftentimes be a replacement for reading the text.


Read graphs and picture captions
Because people learn in many different ways, writers often include graphs or other visual supports of the information they are trying to convey. These are all excellent ways to reinforce the information from the text to ensure comprehension.

This is one of those questions we would most likely answer by mainly mentioning something like big cats. They may seem the fastest, from what we see in the movies. Are they really the fastest of creatures? Can they outrun all other animals? Biologists have given us their information so that you can test your knowledge by what they have discovered. Each animal was added based on studies of the animals, and the actual speeds known to be achieved by their species. Look at those who are listed, and see if you are really an expert on the subject of the fastest animals on the planet.


Cheetah

Number one is pretty easy to guess. The Cheetah has been clocked at going as much as 75 miles per hour. It makes them the fastest animal on the planet without any debate.


Marlin

Some might not have included fish in their list. However, the Marlin can reach speeds of 68 miles per hour in the water. For their huge size, this is an amazing speed.


Sailfish

This member of the fish species that can move incredibly fast. Smaller than Marlin, they still can reach speeds of 68 miles per hour in the ocean. That is something we probably don’t give much thought to, when thinking of fast creatures.

They aren’t quite as fast as the Cheetahs, but they do still make the list. We are most familiar with them in zoos or movies. Much larger and heavier than the sleek Cheetah, the Lion can still reach speeds of 50 miles per hour.


Thomson’s Gazelle

There are many different species of Gazelles. The Thomson’s Gazelle is considered one of the most popular of them. Its sleek and muscular body has been known to reach speeds of 50 miles per hour.


Wahoo

A fish that can be found in the waters of the Caribbean and Central American. It is also known as an Ono and Peto. Very popular with sports fishermen the Wahoo can swim as fast as 47 miles per hour.

Found in tropical and subtropical seas they can be as big as 440 pounds. Often they swim within 300 feet of the surface. Sometimes called Ahi Tuna they can reach speeds of 46 miles per hour.
